SA Basha is an 84-year-old man and the founder of the banned terrorist organization Al-Umma. He was responsible for masterminding the deadly 1998 Coimbatore serial blasts, which claimed 58 lives. Basha was admitted to PSG Hospital due to age-related health issues and passed away on December 17, 2024. A few months prior, he had been granted parole by the Madras High Court because of his declining health, allowing him to spend time with his family. His funeral procession began in South Ukkadam and ended in Hyder Ali Tippu Sultan Sunnath Jamaath Masjid in North Coimbatore.
