Helen Nelson popularly known by her stage name Oviya primarily works in the Tamil and Malayalam film industry. She made her acting debut with the 2007 Malayalam movie Kangaroo and got her big break with the 2010 Tamil movie Kalavani. Oviya has also appeared in notable films like Marina, Moodar Koodam, Madha Yaanai Koottam, and Kalakalappu. Her fan base transitioned into the Oviya army after her participation in the Bigg Boss Tamil Season 1, hosted by Kamal Haasan. Oviya became a hot topic after an alleged 17-second MMS video of her leaked. Her witty response to the controversy brought praise from the general public.
