Gukesh D is an Indian chess grandmaster and the youngest player to exceed a FIDE rating of 2750. He became the third youngest player ever to earn the Grandmaster title. Gukesh gained widespread recognition in October 2022 when he defeated world champion Magnus Carlsen during the Aimchess Rapid Tournament. He was also part of the Indian team that secured a silver medal in the men’s team competition at the 2022 Asian Games. In 2024, Gukesh Dommaraju made history by defeating China’s Ding Liren in the World Chess Championship final, claiming the title of World Chess Champion which sparked a massive social media buzz.
