Barroz is an upcoming Malayalam film directed and performed by Mohanlal. The epic fantasy drama also features Maya, Sara Vega, Shayla McCaffrey, Tuhin Menon, Guru Somasundaram, Ignacio Mateos, and Kallirroi Tziafeta in supporting roles. Lydian Nadhaswaram composed the songs and soundtracks. Antony Perumbavoor produced the film under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner. The film was completely shot in 3D.

Jijo Punnosse, who is known for creating India’s first 3D movie, My Dear Kuttichathan, has penned the screenplay. The film is based on Jijo’s novel Barroz: Guardian of D’Gama’s Treasure. The movie was mostly shot in Kochi, Goa, Bangkok, and Chennai. The plot revolves around a 400-year-old guardian spirit who was tasked to guard and hand over the wealth to a true descendant of its master.

Barroz 3D – Guardian of Treasure trailer was released on November 19, 2024, and received a positive response from the viewers. These two-minute and three-second videos show a guardian spirit stuck in a cave watching his master’s descendant.

Initially, the movie is planned to be released on 28 March 2024. Due to the post-production delay, the release date was postponed to 12th September 2024.
