Ayudha Pooja is a Hindu festival traditionally celebrated in India. On this auspicious day, people worship the tools that help them in life including vehicles, books, computers, machinery, etc. Ayudha Pooja also known as Astra Puja is celebrated on October 11, 2024. This distinct celebration marks the ninth day of the Navratri festival. It is a three-day festival, devotees celebrate the first day for Saraswathi (Goddess of wisdom and art), the second day for Lakshmi (Goddess of wealth and prosperity), and the final day for Parvathi (Divine mother).

Why We Celebrate Ayudha Pooja?

In Southern Indian states, people express gratitude and honour for the tools and instruments that help to run their daily lives. People also offer their tools to Goddess Saraswathi to receive her blessing for the following year. Mythologically, people also say that the Ayudha Pooja is celebrated to honour the weapons of Goddess Durga used to kill the demon lord Mahishasura in their battle.
