Sarfira is a Bollywood social drama directed by Sudha Kongara. It is the Hindi remake of the 2020 national award-winning Tamil movie Soorarai Pottru. Sarfira stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role, with Radhika Madan as the leading lady. Aruna Bhatia, Jyothika, Suriya & Vikram Malhotra produced the film under their home banners 2D Entertainment, Care Good Films, and Abundantia Entertainment.
It is not a biopic; it is based on several true events of Gorur Ramaswamy Iyengar Gopinath’s life, an Indian pioneer of low-cost aircraft. Captain Gopinath created Air Deccan in 2003, which made it possible for middle-class families to afford air trips. This film shows how he succeeded in his vision.
The film revolves around the life of an Air Force pilot who decided to create a low-cost aircraft. But in doing so, he faces the wrath of several business tycoons who have decided to rob him of everything. How he faces them and still succeeds in his plans is the main crux.

The makers released the movie trailer on June 18, 2024, which received rave reviews from the viewers. The trailer also confirmed that the main characters who played key roles in the Soorari Pottru are part of Sarfira, too.
