Ajith Kumar, popularly known by his nickname Thala, is a prominent Indian actor with a career spanning over three decades. He made his acting debut with a small role in the 1990 Tamil film En Veedu En Kanavar. Since then, Ajith has appeared in more than 61 films, primarily in Tamil cinema. Apart from acting, he is also an accomplished motorcar racer, having competed in the MRF Racing Series 2010 in Chennai.
Ajith is one of the few Indians to participate in international racing events, including Formula championships. He is set to appear in upcoming Tamil films Vidaamuyarchi and Good Bad Ugly, which have garnered significant expectations from the audience and critics. Furthermore, he has begun training on the racing tracks in Sharjah in his new Go-Kart.

- Ajith learned Tamil only after he entered the film industry. He dropped out of Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School in 1986, to pursue acting.
- Late playback singer S P Balasubrahmanyam introduced Ajith to the Tamil film industry, recommending him for the lead role in Amaravathi (1993).
- As a child, Ajith admired M G Ramachandran, Jayalalithaa, and Rajesh Khanna. During his teenage years, he was a die-hard fan of Tamil cinema legends Kamal Hassan and Rajinikanth.
- In 1992, Ajith briefly appeared in the low-budget Telugu film Prema Pustakam, which remains his last Telugu film to date.
- In 2004, Ajith became the brand ambassador for Nescafe in Tamil Nadu. However, he later chose not to appear in commercials and focus solely on his film career.
- Ajith has competed as a professional racer in various circuits across India, including in cities such as Mumbai, Chennai, and Delhi.
- He has also participated in races abroad, including in Germany and Malaysia.
- He competed in the 2003 Formula Asia BMW Championships and the 2010 Formula 2 Championship, alongside fellow Indians Armaan Ebrahim and Parthiva Sureshwaren.
- Ajith established the Mohini Mani Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting hygiene, and civic awareness, and addressing the challenges of urban sprawl.
